Exclusion Netting

Picture of techician fitting exclusion netting

This is the best method for keeping pest birds out of central courtyards or bays in large and medium sized blocks.  It can also be used to screen off balconies, windows, pipe-work, ornate ledges, column capitals and roof-tops to name just a few.

The polypropylene net is treated with a UV resistant coating which extends its life considerably.  After all, most nets will be in position for ten years or more with only minor maintenance work.  We install 19mm-mesh nets for sparrows, 28mm-mesh nets for starlings, 50mm-mesh nets for pigeons and 75mm-mesh nets for gulls.

The net is fixed with aluminium or stainless steel hog-rings to stainless steel frame wires tensioned with galvanised or stainless steel barrel strainers.  The frame wires are attached to the building with zinc-plated or stainless steel fittings drilled into the masonry.  Alternative fittings are used to attach the frame wires to lead flashing, metal cladding, timber surfaces or beam flanges.

Once in position it is very inconspicuous and does not noticeably reduce the light coming through into the windows behind.

This method of protection will exclude the target birds from the premises.  The birds will soon find new homes elsewhere and the nets will provide a continuing deterrent to their return.

Microbee Bird Control Limited also offers a repair service for nets that are already in position but have been damaged by falling tiles or clumsy tradesmen.

FACE NETTING

Nets can also be fitted to the faces of buildings to protect ledges, friezes or niches.  The net colour can be made to match the stone colour.

Note

We also install containment netting
