Specifications for fitting Exclusion Netting to Buildings

Fixings – installed at 1 metre spacing around the perimeter

  • Corner fixings in masonry: 8mm-diameter galvanised anchor bolts (stainless steel also available).

  • Intermediate fixings in masonry: 6mm-diameter galvanised anchor bolts (6mm-diameter stainless steel split pins inserted into nylon plugs also available).

  • Fixings for beam flanges: galvanised hammer-on girder clips available for flanges from 2mm to 20mm (stainless steel also available).

  • Fixings for timber or metal cladding: galvanised angle brackets fixed with galvanised self-drilling screws or glass-filled nylon bases fixed with galvanised self-drilling screws (stainless steel brackets and screws also available).

  • Fixings for lead surfaces: glass-filled nylon bases attached with silicone based adhesive.

 Frame wires inserted through the fixings

  • 1.5mm-diameter 316 grade stainless steel wire rope tensioned with galvanised or stainless steel barrel strainers and copper crimps (ferrules) at suitable intervals.

 Netting attached to the frame wires

Nets are UV resistant polypropylene available in a variety of mesh sizes and colours.  Black is the most common but stone and translucent are also available.

  • 19mm-mesh for sparrows

  • 28mm-mesh for starlings

  • 50mm-mesh for pigeons

  • 75mm-mesh for gulls

The nets are attached to the frame wires with aluminium hog-ring staples (stainless steel and galvanised also available).
