Anti Perching Wires

Picture of horizontally fixed anti perch wire This system has been used to deter pigeons for many years and is a proven success.  The nylon coated stainless steel wire is of too small a diameter for a pigeon to grip with its feet.  The springs cause the wire to yaw backwards and forwards when pigeons try to land on it.  This is unsettling for the pigeon and the bird may try again a few times but eventually gives up and moves elsewhere.  Parallel rows of wire are spaced across the ledge to provide overall cover.  This spacing is close enough to prevent the pigeons landing between them and also at a height that pigeons cannot step over nor under.

The wires are nearly invisible when installed.  This ability to blend in and conform to the architectural lines of the building makes them very suitable for protecting buildings of architectural importance.

All of the components of the system are rustproof enabling the system to stay in position, doing its job for many years.  The domed plugs shed the rainwater and can be fitted with silicone to ensure that the water does not penetrate the masonry.  They do not interfere with the normal rainwater runoff by obstructing the slope of the cill or ledges.Picture of vertically fixed anti-perching wire

There are a variety of fittings available making the system very versatile as it can be installed in most situations.  Posts are fitted into plugs drilled into the masonry.  Posts with special plastic bases can be glued onto metal flashing and UPVC cills or posts with special clamps can be attached to gutters and beam flanges.

Pigeons are very intelligent (in fact they were chosen by psychologists in their first experiments on animal intelligence) and have learned to circumvent some of the older anti-perching wire systems.  By studying their reactions, Microbee Bird Control Limited’s anti-perching wire system has been developed and steadily improved over the last 12 years to stay ahead of the street wise pigeon.
